区里搞了一个新千年迎奥运和睦邻里大评比，马大姐所在小区被列为候选对象。正在这时，刘奶奶却跟李二姐因为一点小事打起来了。 论理，李二姐是为了破除封建迷信，马大姐应该向着李二姐，论情，马大姐跟刘奶奶是多年的老邻居，平时关系也不错，应该给刘奶奶撑腰。眼看着评比日期渐渐临近，马大姐为了调解刘、李二人的纠纷左右为难。 马大姐绞尽脑汁，终于想出了一个办法，将自己买的香蕉一撅两半，分别送给刘奶奶和李二姐，慌称是对方送来致歉的，两面和稀泥，终于把刘、李二人叫到了一起，虽然漏洞百出，但二人表面上总算和好了。 刘奶奶旧习不改，不久又因为搞迷信活动跟马大姐发生冲突，马大姐在情与理之间选择了理，对刘奶奶的行为提出了批评，二人不欢而散。和睦邻里的评比可想而知。
