这部动画是由雪室俊一原作，高梨静江作画的人气少女漫画改编而来，担任监督的是吉田茂承。高中生森村爱子寄住在伯父的家中并且在他们搬家到沿海的街道上，之后爱子的爱犬帕比因为交通事故失去了生命，爱子也因此变得十分悲痛。这个时候安慰爱子的是住在海岸边的一条粗犷的狗史胖，爱子和史胖以及街道上的众人和学校里的朋友一起，每天都过着快乐的生活。
