被称之为「蓝色城区」的未来城市－－在那里，有个每到晚上就停电而被黑暗笼罩的城镇－－「夜之镇」。 夜之镇的少年真田叶直一直在一个叫做须蜂贺运送的快递公司打工。有一天，叶直接触了一件昂贵的货物，一个被称之为「GAD'」的神秘物质。之后，「GAD」自我分裂，吞噬了周遭的金属物，变成了一个巨大的人形机器「铁钢人闪电」。从那天以后，叶直的面前便出现了许多其他的铁钢人操纵者。使用铁钢人「零」进行大肆破坏的刃，与铁钢人「米萨舒米特」一起寻找同伴的上流阶层的女孩爱子，与铁刚人「雷电」一起行动的正义少年拓弥。虽然他们都在使用铁钢人，但是他们的想法却大相径庭。总喜欢寻找危险的人，想要和同伴接触的人，为了正义而战的人。大家有着不同的烦恼，但叶直已经捲入了铁钢人的事件以及要和那些同样拥有巨大人形机器的人们的战斗中。「GAD」，也就是铁钢人，为什么要在他们面前出现？这些拥有铁钢人的少年们的命运齿轮，已经开始转动了…
