일본 최고의 전사로서 일본인들은 단연 사나다 유키무라(真田幸村)를 꼽는다. 전국시대인 16세기 중후반 시나노(信濃), 즉 지금의 나가노(長野) 현 부근의 작은 성주의 아들로 태어나, 전국시대를 헤쳐 나가며 도요토미 히데요시(豐臣秀吉)와 그 아들 도요토미 히데요리(豊臣秀頼)에 충성을 받친 끝에 <오사카 여름전쟁>(大阪夏の陣)에서 도쿠가와 히데야스 측에 패하여 전사한 인물이다. 사나다 유키무라를 주인공으로 한 일본 NHK 대하드라마 <사나다 마루>(真田丸)를 감상하였다. 이 드라마는 2016년에 NHK의 대하드라마로서는 55번째 방영된 드라마이다.
