フリーのイラストレーター・いただきみねこ（30）は、ウェブ広告のイラスト執筆という仕事の合間を縫って、ここ2年ほど前からは、もっぱら趣味の“登山”を楽しんでいる。 そんなみねこにとっての一番の楽しみは、山を下りた後に食べるご飯、通称「下山メシ」だ。 ーー 歩かず、待たず、食べられる ーー 登山後の身体に染み渡る居心地の良いお店とご飯は、普段は躊躇してしまうようなハイカロリーな食事さえ、罪悪感なく頼めるから不思議だ。 昭和の雰囲気をそのままに残した、食堂のおばちゃんが手作りするアジフライ定食。 気取らない店構えとちょうど良い距離感の接客が妙に落ち着く、老舗の町中華屋さんが作る炒飯と餃子。 みねこはそんな「下山メシ」を求め、今日もたくましく山へと向かうのだった。 よし、下山しよう。
