Tonkô Horikawa
Horikawa Tonko was a Japanese TV drama director, producer, and movie director from Nakanojo Town, Agatsuma District, Gunma Prefecture. His wife is screenwriter Takagi Rin. He studied at the University of Tokyo, Faculty of Letters. In 1958, he won the Ginkgo Namiki Award for his novel "Suna no Toei". He joined TBS after graduating from university. His representative work as a producer is "Kishibe no Album". In 1984, he won the Newcomer Award for Art Award. After that, he became a movie director and directed "Sennen no Koi: Hikaru Genji Monogatari" in 2001. After retiring from TBS, he belonged to the TV production company "Kazumo" represented by his senior Ohyama Katsumi, but became independent in 2006. He died at his home in Yugawara Town, Kanagawa Prefecture at the age of 82 on March 28, 2020, due to lung cancer.
