اولین سالت یک مامور سیا است تا اینکه به او اتهام جاسوسی برای روسیه را میزنند. سالت مجبور میشود که از مافوق هایش بگریزد تا بیگناهی خود را ثابت کند. وی با بکار گرفتن تمامی تخصص ها و تجاربی که در طی سالها بعنوان مامور مخفی کسب کرده، باید بتواند علاوه بر گریز از دست دولت، بیگناهی خود را نیز ثابت کند.
