Jack Sparrow played by Johnny Depp became an iconic movie character in the early 2000’s with Pirates of the Caribbean which, as successful movies often do, got two sequels to make an epic trilogy that made billions of dollars. But because there was still a chance to cash in on the popularity, a fourth installment came just a few years later- with most of the cast not returning. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides definitely raises some questions. Like are we just following a formula now? Is everything now explained with magic? How many different things can the Fountain of Youth do? How did people even discover the very specific steps needed to activate it? Why are fresh mermaid tears required? Does anyone care about this mermaid-clergyman love story? How does Jack become a superhero with a few bits of cut rope?
